Competitors prepare for Bahrain drag racing event
The Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), ‘the home of motorsport in the Middle East’, has its quarter-mile NHRA drag strip fully set up for this week’s much-anticipated start of the championship. bahrain drag race 2021-22.
The first of five rounds of the region’s premier drag racing series will take place from tomorrow to Friday in Sakhir.
The action kicks off with two days of Test and Tune tomorrow and Wednesday, scheduled from 7 p.m. to midnight. Qualifying will then take place on Thursday, setting up the playoff pairings for race day on Friday. The races will take place from 4 p.m. on both evenings.
Huge crowds are expected at the BIC for one of the most popular events on the calendar. Tickets are available online at the official BIC website bahraingp.com and at the door. They cost BD2 for each day of testing and tuning, and BD5 for the start line grandstand or BD3 for the Batelco grandstand for qualifying and race day. Tickets for children 12 and under are half price.
All races will be held on BIC’s famous drag strip, part of the US-based National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) global network.
A massive field of over 200 participants, including 175 cars and 40 motorbikes, from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates are expected to feature in the season opener.
Throughout this campaign, they will compete not only for championship titles, but also for the prestigious Wally Trophies, the sport’s highest honor awarded only to champions of NHRA-sanctioned events.

Among the main participating teams are Bahrain1 Racing, two consecutive NHRA champions, owned by the personal representative of His Majesty King Hamad, Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
There are 13 competition categories – Pro Mod, Competition 4.5, Pro 29.5, Outlaw 6-Cylinder, Outlaw 4-Cylinder, Index 7.5, Index 8.5, Index 9.0 and Index 10.0 for cars; and the Street Fight 9.5, Index 8.5, Pro Street and Outlaw for bikes.
In addition to the racing action, fans can have the opportunity to take part in one of BIC’s most thrilling passenger rides with the Dragster Experience, also known as “the fastest ride in the world”. world ! Fans will have the chance to taste pure speed as they go from zero to 100 km/h in just one second, seated in a Top Dragster.
The Dragster experience is available at BD42 for the first passenger while the second passenger can benefit from a 50% discount.
This 2021/2022 Bahrain Drag Racing Championship is expected to feature five rounds in all. The second round will be held from December 13 to 16, while the third round will be held from January 4 to 7 of the new calendar year. The final two rounds will then take place on back-to-back weekends at the BIC, starting with the fourth round from February 8-11, then the fifth and final meeting from February 15-18.
The series is organized and managed by BIC in cooperation with the Bahrain Motor Federation, the Bahrain Drag Racing Club and the Bahrain Motorcycle Club.
