Man killed after being hit by race car on Arlington Street

A 30-year-old man was killed and his 20-year-old passenger was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon when their car was hit by a Porsche Cayenne, which was racing with another vehicle on an Arlington street, the city said Wednesday. police.

A preliminary investigation estimated the Porsche Cayenne was traveling 80 mph in a 45 mph zone when it hit a Honda Accord at an Arlington intersection.

The diver of the Accord was pronounced dead at the sceneand a 20-year-old woman was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the Porsche was also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash happened just after 5 p.m. Tuesday at Lee Drive and West Green Oaks Boulevard.

Investigators determined that the driver of the Honda was attempting to turn left onto Green Oaks when his vehicle was struck by the Porsche. Upon impact, the Accord was pushed against a lamppost.

Witnesses told Arlington police the Porsche was racing with a dark BMW on Green Oaks Boulevard. The BMW continued to drive north after the fatal crash.

Police identified the driver of the Porsche as Priscilla Rodriguez, 45, of Arlington.

Rodriguez faces two charges of driving on a highway causing grievous bodily injury or death, police said.

The name of the deceased Honda driver has not been released by authorities.
