Two children dead, several injured after crash at drag race in Kerrville, police say
KERRVILLE – Two children have died and several others are injured after a car participating in a drag race lost control and collided with other cars and spectators, Kerrville police said.
The crash happened around 3:20 p.m. Saturday during the “Airport Race Wars 2” drag racing event held at the Kerrville-Kerr County Airport.
Police said a car participating in the event lost control and left the track. The car crashed into parked cars and struck several people watching the race.
A six-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene and an eight-year-old boy was taken to Peterson Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Officers say a 26-year-old man was airlifted to Dell Seton Medical Center in Austin in an unknown condition. A 27-year-old woman was airlifted to University Medical Center in San Antonio and is in critical condition, but not life-threatening. Another woman, 46, was also taken to the university medical center and is in critical condition.

The driver of the car, 34, was taken to San Antonio Medical Center and is in stable condition.
Police said two people were treated at the scene. A 4-year-old boy and a three-month-old baby were taken by EMS officials to Peterson Regional Medical Center for a precautionary assessment.
