Van der Zande withdrawn from Wayne Taylor Racing roster for 2021

Renger van der Zande will not be part of Wayne Taylor Racing’s Acura DPi lineup for the 2021 IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship.

Van der Zande has been part of the full-season roster of the # 10 Cadillac DPi-VR Konica Minolta since 2018, but the Dutchman has confirmed on his social media that he will not be part of the team’s move to the ‘Acura DPi. program.

During his time with the team, Van der Zande won two consecutive Rolex 24s at Daytona as well as two victories at Petit Le Mans, including his victory last weekend.

“It’s a difficult situation,” said van der Zande Sports car365 on the news. “After Road America [in August] they told me i was the one to drive for them next year.

“It makes a lot of sense because I’m here at Spa this weekend with Honda, and they’ll be working with Acura.

“If you look at my results over the past two years, winning Daytona twice and Petit Le Mans twice, and being the fastest at Daytona. I think rationally it’s really weird.

“Looking at the statistics, there is a very good relationship between me and the engineering group. So there was no reason for it to stop.

Filipe Albuquerque is reportedly under consideration to be part of the Acura ARX-05 # 10 roster in 2021.
